A nice article in the New York Times on Climate Change instigated me to blog on the subject... Why bother? By MICHAEL POLLAN
. . . have been cycling in Bangalore since 2003 and to work almost all the 5 years of my career now. This is despite the history of allergic rhinitis (Hay Fever) in the streets of Bangalore rife with dust, smoke and _killer_ traffic. . .

The following comparison may help also -

Somehow I did not like this article, I just felt that he made arguments for the sake of arguing. It is like, if I dont steal that lady's purse some else might anyway steal it, so let me do it.
Bumped into this interesting news on increase in the sales of bikes due to hike in fuel prices in the US! :))

I believe in India too they should subsidize cycles making them feasible instead of giving the many subsidies on fuel -

If the fuel hike is not the reason enuf then how bout this - cycling takes lesser time than a 4 wheeler!!! :)

my experience on the campus at San Diego was consistent: bike faster than car faster than campus shuttle. With a bike, one could zoom through special bike lanes and take shortcuts between buildings and across parking lots :)
Has there ever been a dearth of inspiration??? :)

Whenever I tell someone that I cycle to work, one standard question is "But how do you deal with the pollution?".
There's lots of research that says you're better off on a bicycle than inside a car. See these links.
