AID Delhi Chapter - A visit to Swapan
Vijay bhaiya (Parichay) and myself visited Swapan, an initiative by students of CITM, Faridabad yesterday (31st March '09). It was amazing to see the dedication of the 1st year students (mostly girls from CSE) of CITM. They have been teaching (5-6 PM) the children of migrant construction workers tirelessly for more than three months.Vijay bhaiya and myself both observed the change in the children as a result of the efforts of these volunteers.
Regularity of these volunteers was a pleasant surprise. Usually we have observed that student volunteers struggle to stay that long in a project. Staying in the same hostel did help the volunteers in putting a collective and a sustained effort in teaching these children.
More details about the project can be found here :

3 month's effort has raised the level of education among the children and they are ready for a formal school. Around 20 children will be going to a nearby formal school (Shiva public school) from today (1st april '09). A bus has been arranged for the same by the CITMÂ management.
Also, let us congratulate Chirag, an AID Delhi volunteer, for sowing the seeds of social responsibility among thestudents of CITM in 2007. I sincerely hope that he and his fellow volunteers will continue to be the agents of positive change in the years to come.

The dreams to make AID Delhi a platform to generate such change makers is a reality now. Few days back someone told me after a meeting at IIT Delhi that I was pretty quiet. At that pointof time I could just say "I am trying to reconnect". But then I thought about it again and a question poppedup in my mind - "Do I need to say much when we have so many voices for a better tomorrow ?"
