Compassion Unlimited Plus Action (CUPA)

Compassion Unlimited Plus Action (CUPA) is a non profit organisation that assists stray and abandoned animals.

CUPA is involved in sheltering, rehabilitation of sick, stray, or injured animals and in rescue of animals in cruelty or abandoned cases.

Their outreach program uses Canine Therapy for the benefit of challenged children and senior citizens. CUPA also has programs to control the stray population, enforce law on bullock carts, captive elephants, and farm animals.

In addition to this, CUPA conducts large animal health camps that are beneficial to farmers.

CUPA is also involved with legal issues in the Karnataka High Court related to protecting the interest and welfare of animals.

Ms Crystal Rogers founded CUPA in Bangalore in October 1991. While travelling to India en route to New Zealand, she was appalled by the miserable plight of the animals she encountered, and decided to stay on in India. In 1959, she started 'The Animals Friend' in Delhi and in 1978, started 'Help in Suffering' at Jaipur.
