Empowering Women Entrepreneurs in Rural India

by rohancheriyan on Mar 13, 2013      Category: Human Rights Tags: women empowerment microfinancing

At present, 40 per cent of India's 1.2 billion population do not have a bank account.

They face challenges such as exploitation from moneylenders, travelling considerable distances to get to banks and difficulty arranging finance due to lack of knowledge about approaching the banks and preparing the necessary documents.

Through this project, which is focused on the development of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME), the NTR Foundation identifies promising entrepreneurs in rural communities, recommends them to the bank to receive loans and provides ongoing support for the women. India's Corporation Bank finances the project and underwrites the loans, while the Commonwealth Secretariat is the advisory partner offering finance and credit training for the entrepreneurs, strategic guidance and expertise to the bank in the area of microfinance.

This programme is providing a replicable model for the economic and social inclusion of women and youth in enterprise development that can be rolled out across other parts of India and the rest of the Commonwealth.

India still lives in Rural land inspite of its best efforts for putting the things on right path through empowering women of Rural India. When we say Rural India means "a place without any school, without minimum amenity like no proper drinking water, no electricity with no education". The outcome can easily be assessed from such place.

Worst scienerio is blindness girls in particular. The future of an uneducated blind girl from Rural India can only be termed as Blind.

We are an NGO in West Delhi providing free boarding and lodging facilities to such blind girl students who pass their 12th Class and interested to pursue their higher education staying back in Delhi. We are also providing study environment like preparing the girls to appear in competitive exams like Banks, SSC and any other exams.

We are also exploring every possibility to have an in-house computer training having a bigger space on rent and computers with computer teacher.

Right now there are 15 blind girl students most of them are preparing for competitive exams after completing their graduation. We are 4-5 people running this NGO are working in Private Company. We are short of funds with high mission.

We need everything, everything means, computers (may they be used ones), part-time teachers for teaching English + Maths etc.

We request every individual / Corporates / Bankers / Business Houses to come forward and help us to meet our expenses.

We are a Registered NGO with Govt of NCT of Delhi. All Donations are exampt under 80G. For any clarification, we may be contacted at "sriradhey0911@yahoo.in"
