Gijubhai Badheka: An inspiring teacher though Montessori

by Goli on May 30, 2010      Category: Education Tags:

Gijubhai Badheka was an inspiring teacher who rejected the orthodox system of school teaching, and instituted playful mechanisms for learning, and used Montessori methods of teaching, particularly in the language arts. This is a film of his work and his school in Gujarat. This film is in Gujarati with English subtitles.

DakshinamurthyVinayMandir, the school that he created still exists in the small town of Bhavnagar, where they still follow this method of teaching. It is an amazing place and must visit for people who are interested in education and also to know about history of some of these great Indian people who were inspired by Gandhiji.
