Sankalp India Foundation® in association with Comprehensive Trauma Consortium proudly and happily announces “CTC Disha: The State Wide Helpline for Blood” from 15th August 2009. This Centralised Blood Stock Information Network promises to bring an end to the painful process of hunting for blood at the time of emergency.
The helpline 9480044444 was inaugurated on 15th August,09 in B G S International Residential School by Sri Sri Sri Balagangadhara Swamiji of Adichunchanagiri Ashramaa. “This is a wonderful concept that I have heard will now. Any person who is looking for blood need not roam from one place to another now. It is a very useful helpline and to add to this service, all of you present here can be donors and make way for elimination of blood shortage”, he said.
Is this a cellphone number that someone carries all the time?

This is a cellphone number which is hooked into our 24X7 manned call centre. It as the capability of handling multiple calls on the same number :)
We chose a cell number over our existing helpline 1062 because of the accessibility and reliability issues that pop up with 4 digit helpline numbers.

so this is a replacement for 1062 or both numbers will continue working?
We will keep 1062 live for another couple of years. people from Bangalore can continue to call either of the numbers. At the same time we have plans to publicise this number aggressively. On a future date when we realise that no more calls are coming on the 1062 lines, we will part with them.
