The Jaipur Foot Organization (JFO) or the(BMVSS) is widely recognised for its efforts to make the physically challenged-especially those with financial constraints- in India self-sufficient. The Jaipur Foot is an aritificial limb developed here in 1968 which is relatively cheap and simple to produce and has helped many such physically challeneged in India and abroad to function normally or almost normally : http://www.jaipurfoot.org/default.aspA group of students at MIT have come up with a better design for this prosthetic that is hand powered and does not require electricity. This is crucial in further cutting production costs and taking the Jaipur Foot to remote areas where the lack of power supply is a major hinderance.

A group is organizing Jaipur foot camp on 10 Oct 2009 in bangalore where they will be providing Calipers, jaipur foot Crutches free of cost
