This is an issue of desperate urgency and it is directly connected to the following questions

Is India a free country ?How free is each individual in our country?

Is India a true Democracy?Is there any place in a Democracy for a law which curbs the Right to Dissent ?

Is love for the government the same as love for the country?

Our Ancestors gave their lives for the freedom of our country. Should we then just sit on their laurels ? Or shall we in turn strive to use this freedom to ensure justice for all ?

Once WE have elected a government should we sit quietly till the next election or is it our duty to use the checks and balances that we can in order to ensure justice, peace, equality and all other values that are the basis of our Democracy?

The Sedition Law that was enacted in 1870 was a measure to repress the political opponents to the British Government in India. I feel it has no place in a free and democratic country.
