Subject: Spread the Word - Encourage Participation in The Dow Solar Competition

Dow Solar recently announced its sponsorship of The Dow
Solar Design Competition. The purpose of this international student
design competition is to encourage new discoveries that can lead to
economical, sustainable and energy efficient homes that are culturally
adaptable in multiple regions. As part of the requirements, a solar
component must be incorporated into the design to achieve near-zero
energy usage.

The contest offers a challenge to participants to design near zero
housing using new and traditional solar technologies. Winners will be
selected through an innovative peer-review system that allows
contestants to learn from one another in a carefully staged series of
elections over the Internet. The prizes, including first, second and
third prize of $20,000, $10,000, and $5,000 will be announced at an
event in February 2012.

All are encouraged to spread the word about this competition and the
valuable opportunity it affords students studying architecture,
engineering, industrial design and other relevant design disciplines. It
is a way for employees to showcase Dow's leadership in exploring residential energy design solutions.

A competition poster is available for download at
which can be distributed by any employee in residential societies and
social communities to encourage participation in the competition.

Given the collaborative nature of the competition and the increasingly
interconnectedness of the ‘Information Age’, the competition will live
exclusively online at

Registration for the competition is open through October 2.

Spread the word among your family, friends and professional groups. Questions can be directed at Please visit for more details.
